I think I was channelling my cynical 20-something self there a bit. I absolutely loved it when I first saw it at 17, and was delighted to discover I loved all over again at 52. It’s such a reassuring, heartening film.
I saw this in the cinema and loved it. I was very broke at the time and at the end of the screening I looked down and found £35. It felt as if an angel had touched me.
That really does sound like the sort of thing one of Wim Wenders’ angels would do, how wonderful.
I also saw it at the cinema when it came out and loved it - I think I got a bit snobby about it in my 20s, but I loved it all over again when I rewatched it for this piece. It’s still great.
Regularly rewatch. Love this film.
Was worried you'd hate it and the piece seemed to be confirming that - until the lovely section at the end on life as a circus. Phew.
