You’re continuing to tell my life story in posts 🤣 I worked on the marketing of Top Gun back in the day! To be honest, I didn’t love the movie back then, I found all the Bruckheimer/Simpson, sometimes Cruise/Scott, movies pretty vacuous, even in my 20s. So I can’t imagine I’d find them any better now, although I’m inevitably curious about the new Top Gun with the great reviews it’s getting. And maybe the intense pressure around releasing those movies coloured my view: hard to believe now, but they were by no means certain hits in the U.K., and the producers and studio still had massive expectations. I did get a free pair of RayBan Aviators out of it though!
I’d be tempted, except my dad, who has way better stories than I have, and many more of them, wrote a memoir and couldn’t get any interest at all in publishing it!
