I had entirely forgotten about the existence of the great John Cazale until now. Time to watch Dog Day Afternoon

Another one from my past, although not involved myself (I’m not old enough!)... my Dad was the international marketing supervisor on all the movies, and worked closely with many of the people you see in The Offer, the TV series about the making of the first movie (and whatever you may read in some reviews, the overall story and the characterisations in that are pretty true to the reality as far as I recall. It’s excellent and well worth a look). I still have a copy of his marketing strategy paper... an unusual thing back in those days! And it’s fascinating how many of the broad strategies are still just as true today. As for a younger view, Charlie doesn’t entirely agree with your 20 year old, he feel that while he can see that a movie such as Good Fellas chimes more accessibly with contemporary viewers, those first two movies are still a cut above as great moviemaking in any era. Then he is a huge movie buff!
