Not only is there a new Slow Horses, this autumn, there will be Down Cemetery Road too (Zoë Boehm series) with Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson. Can’t wait. In the meantime we can reread the books and listen to the excellent audiobooks

I am also just counting the days until Slow Horses returns. Failing that, more Carmen Curlers or Lupin. In my household, we’ll watch the first episode of new stuff, and then spend twice as long deconstructing all its flaws - which I admit I rather enjoy. For comfort’s sake though, we often just retreat to old Antiques Roadshow episodes (preferably hosted by Cheesemeister Michael Aspell).

Very much appreciated this take on the super hero movie. I think the best thing about Superman was definitely the portrayal of the man himself. It’s a much more interesting take on the character. Of those three I actually think I enjoyed Thunderbolts* the most, but as you point out, that was largely due to the presence of Florence Pugh and David Harbour. Personally, I’m not sure Hollywood has the imagination to find much new to say with these films but I will be happy to be proven wrong.

I’m going to have to rewatch Thunderbolts, I think - I enjoyed it but wasn’t fully concentrating. I am hoping though that, as happened with Westerns in the ‘60s and ‘70s, we might get to a stage of reinvention and variety with superhero movies. It happened in the comics in the ‘80s, after all
