What a lovely surprise! I really enjoyed listening to this as it’s not an essay I’d previously read. I agree with everything you said about this film, except - the fact that the whole thing is a magic trick is absolutely the point and the twist is revealed with such style that I still remember the thrill I got from first watching it, even if I was then very frustrated to realise that I had no clue what had actually happened as there was, in fact, no plot. Not all films are meant to be rewatched, sometimes a little sleight of hand is enough reward.
