Having a nostalgic flashback to watching this film for the first time (mine not yours). You plucking it out of your tottering stacks of vhs tapes and announcing I had to watch this one. Snuggling down on the weird sofa in Abbeville Road on a random midweek afternoon. In my mind it was probably raining and we probably lit the fire but that might be embellishing. Still a perfect memory either way ♥️

I was just thinking about that flat the other day. I seem to remember we had a dead branch hanging over that sofa filled with little electronic birds that tweeted when the branch moved. Chris fell asleep on the sofa once and, on waking and seeing it, still half asleep, thought he was outside and went to the back door to get back in and, to his confusion, found himself in the garden.

Anyway, I would apologise for forcing films on you, but not in this case. I’m so glad its a perfect memory, I feel I have done AMOLAD justice in a small way.

I have seen this film and cannot believe I had forgotten the camera obscura scene. It’s delightful. The way the dogs sit up at the mention of offal!

I know - I always give little cheer when the spaniels appear in his films, although they are slightly eclipsed in I Know Where I’m Going by the spectacular deer hounds
